SilkDreamLux vs Slip: two different ideas of luxury silk
Slip is the brand that made silk pillowcases a mainstream purchase. It runs a tight, minimal range with a lower momme weight and a higher price. Here's how the two actually differ.

| Specification | SilkDreamLux | Slip | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Momme weight | 25 momme | 22 momme | 25 momme is noticeably denser and holds its shape longer. |
| Silk grade | Grade 6A stated | Not publicly stated | Slip markets "highest-grade mulberry silk" but does not publish a numeric grade. That's a fair question to put to any silk brand. |
| Fibre content | 100% mulberry silk | 100% pure mulberry silk | Both are genuine silk, not polyester satin. |
| Closure | None — no zipper, no seams | Zippered and envelope options | Slip sells both. A zipper adds a part that can seize or snag; an envelope adds fabric bulk at the opening. Ours has neither. |
| Size options | Standard only 20" × 30" | Queen / International Standard 20" × 30" | Slip's standard is longer than a U.S. standard pillowcase. Measure your pillow before ordering from either of us. |
| Colour range | 8 curated shades | Roughly 10 shades | Both are deliberately edited rather than exhaustive. |
| Certifications | Documentation on request | OEKO-TEX® | Confirm the specific standard number, not just the badge. |
| Return window | 60 nights | 60 days from delivery | Roughly equivalent. Note Slip offers refund, exchange or store credit — check which you'd get. |
| Sold as | One product, one size — no bundles | Cases plus a separate accessory range | We sell one thing at one price rather than making margin in add-ons. |
| Price — Standard | $79 | $120 | Slip's premium is partly brand heritage and partly its larger standard size. |
| Positioning | Warm, approachable premium | Clinical, minimal, fashion-adjacent | Not a spec difference — but it changes who each brand is for. |

SilkDreamLux vs Slip — FAQ
Is Slip's silk lower quality than yours?
No — Slip uses genuine 100% mulberry silk and is a well-made product. The measurable differences are momme weight, closure construction and published specification, not fibre quality. Anyone claiming a competitor uses "bad silk" at this level is marketing, not reporting.
Why does momme weight matter more than brand name?
Momme is a measurable property of the fabric. Brand is not. Two pillowcases at the same momme and grade will feel broadly similar regardless of the label; a 25-momme case will feel denser than a 22-momme case every time.
Does a heavier momme weight feel too warm?
Not usually. Silk's breathability comes from the fibre itself, and a denser weave still moves air well. If you sleep very hot and prefer an airy feel, our 19-momme option exists for exactly that reason.
